1973 Sincerely Antique “Sincerely Antique” on Funny

Yeah, this is the iconic and utterly banging Miami outfit of Chebi Rodriguez generally running by the handle of Los Antiques that is sort of the consensus choice for having owned the city in terms of live funky boogaloo for a good ten years. After the first record, which is credited to Antique Formula, and is more straight Latin soul, Los Antiques seem to have discovered either acid or god or both, because then decided to rename themselves every record, as a sort of conceptual art project/middle finger to the idea of ever being known outside of Miami. This bad boy is the second release, followed by Antique Sorcery and The Antiques. Hey, smarter men than me still don’t have it entirely straight, and you are welcome to travel back to 1994, prior to Google, and attempt to make sense of the non-sensical. Either way, probably worth mentioning that this album RULES, a killer mix of soul, funk, Latin buzzbomb rock, cubop, and the mighty guitar of Chebi.
