1976 Janko Nilovic “Super America” on Editions Montparnasse 2000

Well, now’s the perfect time to post this genius maestro library banger from Nilovic, unquestionably the greatest Montenegrin-French composer in all of cinematic funk classical big band experimental jazzy snippetry, since America really is SUPER at the moment, what with firing missiles at helpless floating survivors of missile attacks off the coast of Venezuela and all the other inexplicable madness that our country has descended into. Fortunately, as an American, I’m actually really French myself, so I only feel 72% guilty about it. But in terms of nonpolitically affiliated musical commentary, this record is awesome if not quite as consistently awesome as some other Nilovic titles, it’s a little breezier and for me without quite the funk edge I always yearn for, but still hardfiled with malice since, as Keef always says, you can’t always be listening to exactly the Library Music you want, but you often are, if chosen correctly, listening to the Library Music you need. Oh yea.
