Yeah, you know exactly what you’re getting here from jump, and that’s deep-roots soulful Trenchtown juke-single jam tracks with names like “Short Skirt”, “He Never Fail I Yet” and “Fight Against Babylon”. But oh, baby, what a lineup! Absolute monster riveted-steel-anchor bass from Errol “Flabba” Holt, Bertram “Ranchie” McLean with the clean upstroke guitar licks, the amazingly-named Theophilus Beckford (listed as Caffilous Beckfork), who was one of the main movers behind Dancehall/Jamaican R&B syrup-ing it’s way into dat modern thing we call reggae on piano, the MIGHTY Tommie Cook (Skatalites/Supersonics) on tenor licks, Clifton Bigga Morrison on organ, Uziah “Sticky” Thompson on additional gong banging, and session whiz Radcliffe “Dougie” Bryan, who played tasty leads on about 9000 tracks. Our man Fish (younger brother of Jonny “None Shall Escape” Clark, is an amazing drummer, although this is his only release as leader, he’s on a ton of action, especially as arranger. This is the goods, no doubt, to make a man already feelin’ alright feel just that much bettah.
