1978 Janko Nilovic “Un Homme Dans L’Univers” on Editions Montparnasse 2000

Well, yes, it continues to be “One Man Against The Universe” literally and metaphorically, at least if you consider that to be the musical universe, and Nilovic continues to be stomping like a cinema rage-beast down the path of French-Montenegrin Library action without taking a single prisoner, or composing a bad song. This record is, like yesterday’s Super America, less funky and more Third Stream soul/spiritual while still busting out the backbeat and studio effects none of us can live without. I love, btw, when online posts about any given musician written by Europeans call Psych “Psyche”, which is a very different although possibly applicable meaning entirely, and it always gives me a chuckle, although not one of critique, but of One Man being in communion with the universe through the variations of language, and of course music, since music is nothing but a mathematical language. Oh yea!
