1981 Michael Orr And The Book Of Life “Love Will Rise” on Birthright

I’m suddenly seeing this one around after not at all for a long time, which is a good thing, because it’s awesome. I mean, I suppose that demands a certain interest in Spiritual Disco and Gospel Soul and Funky Worship, which is inherently right up my alley, but there’s enough here for fans of Harris & Orr’s ’76 love bombshell “Spread Love”, especially when there’s possibly an even better version of “Spread Love” on this bad-boy. Now, it’s possible that you, like me, would buy virtually any side in the wild at almost any price when checking the liners to find drummer Fairest Hill was on it, if only because it’s maybe the best drummer name after Raymond Pounds in all of funky jazz. Even so, there’s plenty of even better reasons to acquire this straight-groove ticket to The Rapture, and it mostly has to do with lowering your blood pressure with style via the conduit of love-evangelistic chordal progression. When you’re down, you’re down. Oh yea.
